1. Who is responsible for your information?
Jeph Gearbox Performance, at 20A Staal Street, Kyasands, Gauteng, South Africa, is responsible for the customer enquiry information collected through this website. This policy covers website enquiries about gearbox repairs, new and second-hand parts, towing and callouts.
For privacy questions or requests, call 010 017 6733, WhatsApp 084 889 9268, or contact the workshop at the address above.
2. What information do we collect?
We collect information you enter into the enquiry form:
- Your name, phone or WhatsApp number, and optional email address.
- Your vehicle make, model, optional year, gearbox type, symptoms, and repair or parts details. A part number or vehicle identification number may be included if you choose to provide it.
- Your requested service, parts condition preference, vehicle location or suburb, and optional distance for towing or a callout.
- Your permission for enquiry follow-up, the submission time, enquiry reference, and any assistance estimate.
The team may add enquiry statuses, quoted amounts, follow-up dates and notes from your conversation. The website also records campaign labels included in the page link, where present. Technical hosting services may process connection information such as your IP address and request logs. The enquiry service uses a hashed IP identifier for short-lived abuse prevention when an IP address is available.
3. Why do we use this information?
We use your details to respond to your enquiry, assess the help you need, check parts availability and compatibility, prepare quotes, discuss towing or callout arrangements, and manage follow-up. Technical information supports reliable operation and abuse prevention. Campaign labels help us understand where enquiries come from.
Submitting the form is voluntary. Fields marked with an asterisk are needed to process that request. If you leave them out, the form cannot be submitted; you can contact the workshop directly instead. The contact permission relates to your enquiry. The form does not enrol you in a marketing mailing list.
4. Who can access your information?
Enquiries are stored in the workshop's customer management system. Access to customer records is restricted to authorised team accounts. Website hosting, database and technical support providers process information as needed to run the service.
If you ask us to arrange assistance through a separate towing or service provider, relevant contact, vehicle and location details may need to be shared to fulfil that request. Information may also be disclosed where required by law.
The website uses managed hosting and database infrastructure, and provider processing may take place outside South Africa. Transfers of personal information outside South Africa are subject to the requirements of the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). Contact the workshop if you need further information about where your enquiry is processed.
5. Storage, retention and security
Enquiries remain in the customer management system for follow-up and workshop records. They are not automatically erased when a request is marked as won or lost. The retention period depends on the enquiry, any resulting service, recordkeeping needs and applicable legal requirements. Contact us to request deletion where continued retention is no longer justified.
The website uses HTTPS and checks team authorisation before returning or updating customer records. Abuse-prevention identifiers expire and are cleared during subsequent enquiry processing. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.
6. Cookies and other services
The current website does not include advertising pixels or third-party analytics scripts. The hosting and sign-in services may use cookies or similar technologies necessary for operation, security and team authentication.
WhatsApp and Google Maps links open services operated by their respective providers. Information you share there is also subject to their privacy policies. Opening WhatsApp does not automatically save that conversation in the website enquiry system. Website form submissions are saved separately.
7. Your choices and rights
Subject to POPIA and applicable exceptions, you may request access to your information, correction of inaccurate details, or deletion of information that should no longer be retained. You may withdraw consent or object to relevant processing. This does not undo earlier lawful processing or remove lawful recordkeeping obligations.
Call or WhatsApp the workshop to make a request. Include your enquiry reference if available. We may ask for reasonable proof of identity before releasing or changing personal information. You can also lodge a privacy complaint with South Africa's Information Regulator.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the website or its information practices change. The latest version will appear on this page with an updated date.
You can read the Protection of Personal Information Act for further information about South African privacy rights.
